Review
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel received a more favorable response on its PS3 platform than it did on its PC platform. There were still some issues found on this version that was inherited from the PC version, but overall there were fewer bugs, and the game comes with an improved interface. Like most RPG, Sacred 2 follows in the footsteps by not diverging far from the usual ‘assuming of the muscle-bound warrior or curvaceous seraphim’ premise. This time it is set in the medieval fantasy land of Ancaria, where gamers assume the role of a hero (in the Light campaign) or as a villain (in the Shadows campaign). It’s still about hacking and slashing your way through monsters, picking up loots and leveling up. Sounds like Diablo doesn’t it?
Developers try to throw in a bit of storyline, of high elves and T-energy, a glowing magic fluid that serves as Ancaria’s oil that is increasingly going out of control and changes into a destructive force. Gamers of course in placed to task to restore order, etc. etc. This is done through a series of quest, which is far between the game map, peppered with offered jobs wherever you go. Most of the quest involve rescuing someone, finding items and killing monsters. Perhaps the constant succession of assignments can keep one going in the game and fend of boredom.
Some saving grace is at hand though. The game’s interface has been tweaked to fit the PS3 game console from its PC mouse and keyboard predecessor. The multiplayer mode has also been enhanced, with its single-player being integrated with the Net over the PlayStation Network. This allows other players to drop into single player campaigns at will when you’re online. The multiplayer online mode also allows gamers to wander the game world with friends in competitive play. While Sacred 2 isn’t the best RPG game on the console to date, it is a game that will provide gamers with tons of quests that will fill up dozens of hours online and offline.
