The SBK Superbike World Championship was announced on the 18th February, 2009 and it was officially released on the 10th March, 2009 by its publisher, Black Bean Games. The game is rated as E10 which means that it is suitable for players who are more than 10 years old by ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board), while the game’s developer is Milestone. The SBK Superbike World Championship PS3 offers thrill and challenging experience in terms of motor sports racing with technically accurate extreme simulation mode. It also provides gamers with 4 well balanced racing styles and 6 game modes such as Basic, Arcade, Advanced, Simulation, Extreme and Custom. Its Next generation feature gives players the chance to challenge friends and opponents from all over the world. Other features in the game includes 12 Official SBK tracks featuring locations all around the world including well-known tracks like Phillip Island (Australia), Monza (Italy), Donington (United Kingdom) and Magny-Cours (France), along with 22 real riders with AI (Artificial Intelligence) reflecting their true-to-life riding style, in-depth bike customization tools with professional engineers help and also 4 variable weather conditions.
The SBK Superbike World Championship features racing simulation that comes with true real-like 3D graphic where players can do customization through the options available. The realism setting can be selected from basic to extreme or it can be chosen from the 15 individual settings according to your liking.

Players can also reduce the rider’s weight, set a preference of whether the chosen bike can be damaged or evades injury to the rider. Players can also control the front and rear brakes together or independently. This is available via the standard menus that provide a single slider to adjust the bike’s suspension, steering, gears, and others, or by using advanced menus for doing technical adjustments for enhancing each aspect of the bike. Its suspension alone consists of eight sliders where two each are for the preload, spring stiffness, compression damper, and also rebound damper. All the fine tuning done on the Superbike need to be optimized as the player progresses through each racing event and as the conditions changes from race-to-race throughout the championship series. The game also enables players to get short and simple tips on handling the machine from engineer before starting the race. Newcomers to the game are encouraged to practice with the time trials or races to get acclimatized and have the feel of proper handling and braking of the machine. Players need to have the skills and patience when maneuvering past opponents and avoid colliding with other racers. A slightest mistake will cause disaster to the players involved and it is a difficult task or sometimes impossible for players to recover during the race.
Players can also feel the actual SBK race when playing the game due to several of the modes are designed similar to the SBK race events. Either by choosing a particular race or just the time trial for getting familiar with the game, its 12 real-life tracks, race weekend or a full-scale championship, will provide players with an authentic SBK experience. Each of the race weekend features an hour-long period of free practice on the track, followed by two hours of qualifying practices, then another one hour of free practice before ending with two races after that. Players are able to play all of the mode in real time or just play according to your needs, for example, make the race into a full-length racing event of around 20 laps, or reduce it to just a single lap. As for the championship challenge, it provides players to go through an entire SBK season where it consists of a race weekend for each of the 12 tracks. The SBK Superbike World Championship also support online gaming where players can enjoy playing with friends or opponents (up to 8 persons in one race) from all over the world. Regardless of the mode selected, 12 actual SBK teams are provided for players to choose along with a variety of actual riders to be selected from. The game also features camera options for players to get the feel of riding in a race on top of a super bike that provides a great view of the bike’s movement and making gamers feel the lean into every lap taken during the race.
