Review
In the Wanted: Weapons of Fate game, player will play the role of movie protagonist, Wesley Gibson who inherited firearm skills from his father. The main game play of the game includes a lot of shooting, for which Wesley is equipped with customized dual guns, an advanced cover system that allows you to smoothly transition around sharp corners and dash to other cover points, and visceral one-hit melee combat. In addition, there are also Wesley’s special assassin abilities such as curving bullets around obstacles, smash bullets together in mid-stream to create an explosive death trap, and slowing (freeze) time. Most of the time through-out the game the storyline will be in flashback mode where Pekwarsky (Terrance Stamp’s character in the movie) tells Wesley about his father, Cross. During this flashback, player will be able to control the character of Cross and learn more about the past history of Wesley. Not every level of the game is played as a third-person shooter; sometimes players are assigned to handle a machine-gun or sniper-rifle and your mission are to take out the targets before being killed. There are also a few levels of slow motion action, where you must take out enemies and their bullets quickly, before they find you as their target. After killing each enemy, you will gather an adrenaline and can be used to unleash the curving shots, or to slow down time for allowing you to gather multiple kills. Many of big names actor helps provide voices of the characters in this PS3 game such as James McAvoy (Wesley Gibson), Thomas Kretschmann (Cross) and Terrance Stamp (Pekwarsky) among others.
In the French chapter, the main character is headed by The Immortal, a Fraternity leader, who has a grudge against Wesley and his family. He also employs a beautiful but deadly Spanish assassin, along with Brummel, the businessman assassin who is street smart as well as sophisticated. The game also features multi-layered cover mechanic that emphasizes chaining from one piece of cover to the next with an interface that shows your available cover options, for example player can slide quickly behind a crate before leaping over it to a wall, then diving to the safety of another crate. The game also provides players with a few different modes like the Headshot Mode that requires you to kill everyone with headshots, plus also unlock new characters mode where players choose different kind of character models that does not appear in the movie version. The game also enables player to play the game on a higher difficulty level for more challenging actions.
