Rage

Rage - 1
Rage is a PlayStation 3 game which will be id Software’s next release and is in full production and set for release in late 2009 or early 2010. It is built on the company’s new id Tech 5 engine. The game was announced on August 2, 2007 at QuakeCon. A trailer for the game was released by Gametrailers.com on the same day. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic world similar to that of films such as Mad Max 2 and is set in the near future following the (fictional) impact of 99942 Apophis. Rumour has it that the game is an open world game, though not quite so completely as while there are ways to interact with the environment off the track, there’s always a sense of direction that leads the gamer back into gameplay. John Carmack, id’s programming heartbeat, describes Rage as “cocooned-in-a-bubble-of-entertainment type gameplay”. Rage dabbles in RPG-style quest-giving in the main town area and character progression. Designer Willits insists that while Rage is not racing game, or even a vehicular combat game, the vehicular influences on the driving and racing gameplay (as one can see in MotorStorm and Burnout) will allow gamers to upgrade their cars with money won from races. The game’s rating is pending, however, id is work for Rage with a ‘T-for-Teen’ rating in mind, and the PS3 version will ship on one Blu-ray disc. Electronic Arts will be involved for the publication of Rage.
