There’s also My Player Mode which allow players to create their own basketball player and could even guide him thorough his career, starting as an undrafted rookie in the Summer Circuit and then players have to work their way up in entering NBA team’s training camp or in the D-League. In addition, there’s Seamless Online which enable players to play Al and challenge the friend sitting next to or play with your buddy across town anytime, from anywhere in the game. Players could also fight the way to the top of the Crew Leaderboard rankings by building the ultimate squad, go online and battle other Crews for bragging rights and progression points. There’s also this feature which is called Living Rosters which keeps the NBA 2K10 fresh with up-to-date team and player information, including roster and lineup moves, trades, injuries and player ratings. Plus, there’s New signature player styles, tendencies, dribble packages, dunk packages, facial expressions and team rituals, such as the Cavaliers photo shoot, Lebron’s chalk toss, Wade’s hanging on rim, and Kevin Garnett’s face pump.
What’s the Story?
NBA 2K10 is a video game based on the professional basketball. Players can guide one of 30 teams to an NBA championship in Dynasty or Season modes, or create and control players own player and guide them to a hall of fame career.
“While you can make the case that fundamentally sound players like Tim Duncan win championships, it’s the high-flying antics of players such as Andre Igoudala and Ty Thomas that bring fans out of their seats. NBA 2K10 captures the excitement of these breathtaking dunks and acrobatic layups, transforming a typical NBA team into an old-school ABA club that is more intent on wowing the crowd than buckling down to play solid defense. The frenetic pace makes games fast and exhilarating, letting players show off their agility every time they get the ball back. This means offensive strategies, such as setting screens or working the ball in the low block, are largely ignored as guards constantly drive the lane. Though this isn’t a realistic representation of the actual sport, it is entertaining. Unfortunately, a number of bugs and an inconsistent grading system in the new My Player mode put a damper on the fun, and a lack of depth limits the longevity. Despite the problems, NBA 2K10 provides a good time for those who want to re-create the most exciting moments of the real thing.” (Gamespot, 2009)
“Although 2K10’s many nagging flaws prevent the game from achieving greatness, they don’t keep it from being fun — especially if you’re going to spend most of your time in the excellent My Player mode. I really loved the feature and became completely invested in making the virtual Aaron Thomas a great baller. But as much as I love the mode, I know I won’t enjoy it as much or as long as I would if the game weren’t riddled with technical problems.” (1Up, 2009)
“With solid, fast paced gameplay and an excellent presentation that’s easily the best the series has ever had, NBA 2K10 continues its strong pedigree of great basketball. While the presentation holds down the fort, the inclusion of the NBA Today and My Player modes, as well as the addition of the developmental leagues make an already good title even better. While the technical issues, such as the slowdown and the legacy problems with the AI and shooting are dismaying, they don’t completely destroy the on-court experience, which is still strong enough to allow 2K to hold the basketball crown for yet another year.” (IGN, 2009)
